Third-year students from the IXD Department have won the Special Award and Honorable Mention at the Matsu International Art Island Cultural and Creative Product
The team, consisting of Jiang Yufan, Xu Shiting, Chen Fangyi, and Hong Xinyi, created "The Quest for the Divine Bird," which integrates digital interaction mechanisms with elements of Matsu culture, showcasing innovative applications of digital design in the cultural and creative field.
Inspired by their field study in Juguang Township, the project is based on the majestic Chen Yanshuai Temple on Xiju Island, symbolizing the islanders' prayers for safe sea voyages. The work combines a fortune-telling box with Arduino sensors, allowing visitors to engage in a simulated worship experience through an interactive device. Participants can randomly draw poetic fortunes symbolizing blessings from the "Five Treasures of Juguang." Once the fortunes are deposited into the fortune-telling box, the device emits sound and light effects, displaying a fortune-telling video on the connected Unity screen, encouraging visitors to reflect during the ritual.
Under the guidance of instructors Hsiao-Yue Tsao, Che-Kuang Chuang, and Hsiao Yu-Ching, the team successfully merged Matsu's traditional beliefs with digital technology, enhancing the interactive experience. This award recognizes the students' creative abilities and demonstrates their outstanding performance in the field of digital cultural and creative design.
