The Freshman Exhibition "Interactable" by the Department of Interaction Design's local and international first-year students was a great success.
The annual semester-end exhibition for local and international first-year students of the Department of Interaction Design at Taipei Tech concluded successfully on December 30th. We would like to express our gratitude for the generous sponsorship from GuangShidai Co., Ltd. and the support from faculty and staff. This year’s theme, "Interactable," showcased students' designs focusing on interactivity and diverse types of works.
The course topic originated from a collaboration with GuangShidai: using Taipei Children's Amusement Park and Guang XR Reality Park as the project base, students were tasked with approaching the design from a service design perspective and developing different product prototypes. The local students presented creative board game designs aimed at serving the crowds waiting in line, incorporating solid artistic and design skills to create a variety of game prototypes, with impressive results. Meanwhile, the international students developed a platformer/parkour game inspired by amusement park rides, and ultimately created a Metaverse version of Taipei Children’s Amusement Park. These students, with no programming background, completed their project planning and game prototypes in just two and a half months, receiving high praise!
Through careful selection, with reviews from faculty, external judges, and GuangShidai officials, nine outstanding student works were awarded prizes. The grand prizes went to the local student team's board game "Life Planning - Asian Difficulty" and the international student's "Treasure Hunt" PC game. We look forward to the future success of our interaction design students, whose technical and creative talents will shine even brighter in the industry-academic world!
